Dean of Georgetown University-Qatar since October 2022, Safwan Masri was previously Executive Vice President for Global Centers and Global Development at Columbia University.

Masri was founding chairman of King’s Academy and Queen Rania Teacher Academy, and is trustee of International College in Beirut and director of Amideast. His book Tunisia: An Arab Anomaly (Columbia University Press, 2017) examines how that nation’s vaunted education system informed its democratic experiment.

Dr. Masri received his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
