Sheikha Al-Jawhara Hassan Al-Thani

PUE, Manager of Wellbeing and Safeguarding

AlJawhara Al Thani is the Manager of Safeguarding and Wellbeing at Qatar Foundation Schools. She has been a part of the Safeguarding and Child Protection program at Qatar Foundation since its introduction and has worked to design and develop policies, procedures, and training that bring international best practices in conversation with local laws, cultures, and customs. AlJawhara’s work emphasizes the importance of creating inclusive conversations that center the children in our care regardless of age, ability, culture, or gender.

Her passion lies in bringing schools and the communities they serve into meaningful conversation. AlJawhara believes that the true work of education is to root schools—and the learning they provide—deeply in the realities of their context. She envisions a symbiotic relationship between schools and communities, each strengthening the other, to ensure students graduate prepared to serve their communities no matter where life takes them. Her vision is of values that are both grounded and enduring, capable of transcending the challenges of an ever-changing world.

AlJawhara has an MA in Change Leadership – Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, an MA in Sociology of Education and Cultural Studies from New York University, and a BSFS in Culture and Politics from Georgetown School of Foreign Service in Qatar.
