Sarah Champa Al Dafa

Founder, Maktaba Children’s Library

Sarah is the founder of Maktaba Children’s Library, the first full service children’s lending library in Qatar. Sarah, her co-founder Hind Al Khulaifi and their team have built Maktaba from the ground up beginning with story-times and community events with partners across Qatar and culminating with the opening of Maktaba’s Flagship Library in 2015.

In 2017, Maktaba partnered with the Generation Amazing to develop a series of locally authored and illustrated children’s books that use football as a common theme to tell stories about UN SDGS including Gender Equity and Climate Action.

Sarah has a background in public policy, specifically arts and education advocacy in both the US and the UK. She holds a BA in Comparative Literature and Modern European History from the American University of Paris and a MSc in Cultural Sociology from the London School of Economics.
