UNHCR High Profile Supporter Maya Ghazal is a 20 year old Syrian refugee who fled Damascus in 2015 with her mother and 2 younger brothers to join her father in the UK on a Family Reunification visa.  With determination, hope and resilience she has started a new life in Britain and is currently studying Aviation Engineering at Brunel University with the ambition of becoming a pilot.

Maya has become a prominent advocate for refugee rights, speaking at various events across the world including at TEDxPalaisDesNationsWomen in which she smashed stereotypes and offered five solutions to better understanding refugees and why we should invest in their limitless potential. Maya is a Co-Sponsor of the Education session at the upcoming Global Refugee Forum.
