Meagan Richard

University of Illinois

Meagan Richard is a doctoral candidate at the University of Illinois at Chicago studying Policy Studies in Urban Education. Her research interests center on social justice and activism in educational settings, including school leader, student, teacher, community, and researcher activism. Meagan sees each of these forms of activism as interconnected within an educational ecosystem and each is essential to promoting social, economic, and environmental justice for children and communities. Her current area of focus within this broad topic is emancipatory forms of school leadership. She also pays particular attention to how neoliberal education policy, such as school choice and accountability policies, interact with issues of social justice within the education sphere.
