Initially, he worked in international schools as a primary teacher, middle-school teacher, and a teacher for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. For the past 14 years, he has focused his work on education in emergencies and child protection in a number of settings including: Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Guinea, Sudan (Darfur), Albania, Armenia, Indonesia (Aceh), Afghanistan, Lebanon, and the occupied Palestinian territories. Most recently, he has worked as a Special Advisor on Education for the Norwegian Refugee Council, providing support to country programs in Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and West Africa.
