Prof. Colin Blakemore: “Without effective education, a country is nothing”

In this exclusive interview, Colin Blakemore, Professor of Neuroscience, University of Oxford in the UK, asserts that “an ideal education system would be one which is built on knowledge of how a child’s brain naturally develops and learns.” According to Professor Blakemore,  the period between approximately 2 and 5 years old is a particularly sensitive period for the development of childrens’ social understanding, cooperation and empathy. Professor Blakemore also talks about future trends in education including the role of technology in classrooms and the increasing importance of lifelong learning.
