Date:

The Game-based Learning Initiative (GLI) at the National Institute of Education, Singapore, promotes the use of authentic digital games to develop performance capacities of students through the activities of play and dialogue. In the context of school-based formal curriculum, the goal is to nurture students’ enactive capacities to think, speak, and act in ways that (1) reflect the value of 21st-century professional practice and (2) create personal value for themselves. A performance approach targets learning to be (a certain kind of person) rather than learning about (subject content). Performance integrates knowledge and skills, raising them to the higher level of being able to do, to act, and to enact.
