What they do

Founded in 2019, the team behind TOMi have developed a technology that aims to simplify the day-to-day tasks of teachers, providing them with more time to create inspiring lessons and resources. A device that can be connected to a TV or smartboard, or simply projected onto a blank surface, TOMi can be used to present engaging content in any classroom context.

Designed to work in places without reliable connectivity or infrastructure, TOMi can be used offline as well. After using TOMI’s online library of content to manage their resources, teachers can then use the TOMi device to grade students’ exam papers and communicate this information with parents. Driven by their own experiences of learning in under resourced schools, the team at TOMi developed this device with the objective of ensuring access to education for all students, no matter their circumstances or background.

Why it matters

Today, many teachers across the world struggle to overcome an often overwhelming workload. With this in mind, edtech like TOMi meet an urgent need to create knowledge sharing opportunities between teachers and leading practitioners, enriching local classrooms with resources sourced through a global network.

TOMi also helps teachers realise a blended learning culture that is necessary for 21st century learning to take place. In doing so, edtech like this can help realise a shared objective of access to quality education.

Traction so far

Since its launch, TOMi has been able to onboard 18,000 teachers and 144,000 students across Latin America.
