TransformEd AI leverages generative AI for data-driven, immersive teaching & learning, empowering teachers to accelerate foundational outcomes in under-resourced secondary schools.
This project is one of the 2024-2025 WISE Prize for Education semi-finalists.
Transform Schools, co-founded by Pankaj Vinayak Sharma and Tanushree Narain Sharma, is driven by a vision to provide children with an education they don’t need to recover from. Since 2019, the organization has made significant strides in improving educational outcomes across India: Transform Schools has impacted 9.7 million students, 1.1 million teachers, and 76,000 schools across seven Indian states: Odisha, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Tripura, and Karnataka.
Their work prioritizes improving secondary school learning outcomes, with a special focus on vulnerable groups such as girls, Dalits, Tribals, and students in Aspirational districts and blocks. The effectiveness of their approach is evident in the results of a Randomized Control Trial (RCT) conducted by JPAL South Asia in Odisha. The study showed that their Transform Learning (TL) programme adds up to 1.5 years of additional learning gains, significantly improving test scores for all students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
TransformEd AI is an innovative platform that goes beyond personalized learning. It incorporates predictive analytics, immersive experiences, and gamified learning to enhance cognitive endurance and foundational learning for students. Based on their proven targeted instruction programme, it empowers teachers with AI-driven tools for curriculum design, content creation, and professional development, fostering systemic improvements.
Key features of TransformEd AI include:
Transform Schools has set ambitious goals for the future. By 2030, they aim to impact 20 million children annually, reaching 25% of children in elementary and secondary government schools in India and beyond. Their strategy aligns with SDGs 4, 5, and 10, aiming to enhance student performance, reduce gender gaps in education, and improve school retention and completion rates through robust, systemic interventions and partnerships.
In the next five years, TransformEd AI is envisioned as a premier educational platform revolutionizing teaching and learning globally, especially in under-resourced areas. The team plans to achieve this through:
TransformEd AI addresses the following WISE Prize challenges:
The solution directly addresses these challenges by leveraging AI to enhance teaching and learning in under-resourced secondary schools, while focusing on improving foundational learning outcomes.
